Funny Florida and Thinking

One day we are sweating and it’s over 80 degrees and the next day is cool and windy.

We went for a walk on the beach yesterday. Brittyn didn’t last very long because she was afraid of the cold water. There isn’t a lot of sand left on Flagler Beach since the hurricanes. It’s sad each time I drive by or come here because so much has changed.

Sally’s Ice Cream (our favorite ice cream shop) finally reopened after the first hurricane but hasn’t reopened since the second. Today we saw they have a truck out front.

Last month one friend’s daughter was a victim of a school shooting and another friend’s son was sick with what they thought was the flu. It turned out that he had fluid on his brain. Thankfully both are recovering beautifully but I have been struck with how rapidly life can change in the blink of an eye.

Ron, who I spoke of in the Circle of Life post was doing okay one day, had two strokes the next and passed away the following week.

How many times in life have I felt or been told not to take what I have for granted? So why is it so easy to get caught up with life and forget?

  1. Mindy, you are so right.. Please be thankful each day for your husband and children. Things can change in a blink of the eye. I remember years ago when my first husband kidnapped my boys. Here one day, gone the next. It was years before I knew where they were. Devastating. When they graduated high school they were old enough to come back to me. But nothing will ever replace those lost years. Sometimes I think that is why I was placed in primary. Sometimes we become so complacent with our family that we don’t think how quickly things can change. I always love reading your posts, very interesting.
